Hubspot Flourish Banner v2

From the Diocesan Chief Executive

Here at Newcastle Anglican, we are always looking for ways to ensure our staff and the people we support can flourish.

We operate in aged care, disability care, and social services where there has been a consistent stream of change for many years. This includes leadership changes as people enter and exit the sector.

Farewelling Tammie Lawler

It is now widely known that, after 17 years, Tammie has decided to leave Samaritans.

Tammie has dedicated herself to the people we support through disability services throughout an incredible period of change, including the introduction of NDIS.

On behalf of everyone at Newcastle Anglican, I would like to thank Tammie for her efforts throughout her time with us. Her final day with us is on April 19.

Update on our Executive Team

Staff feedback is helping us shape our future. With your help, we are making changes to ensure our business operates effectively for our people and the people we support.

The Board has agreed to my proposed changes to two of our operational directorates to give each service greater visibility and equal footing in the organisation. This will also put us in a better position to align with industry.

People Care has always been a diverse portfolio. Newcastle Anglican has been on a journey to find the right fit to ensure we deliver the highest quality of care and services for the people we support. To achieve this, and to allow our leaders to focus their energy and expertise, the People Care directorate will be separated into two directorates:

  • Residential Aged Care (RAC)
  • NDIS & Community Services

Each will get their own, dedicated Executive Director. An external recruitment agency has been appointed to help us in the search process for these vital roles.

Linda Wilson, Executive Director Quality and Risk, will provide oversight of the transition in these directorates. She will be assisted by Jodie Gardiner and Karina Peace together with the Residential Care Managers, who continue to lead our aged care work.

Steph McCauley, together with the managers, is leading our NDIS & Community Services.

Every day our Family and Community Services workers provide support to people who experience significant social disadvantage, sometimes across generations. Our two Family and Community Services Directors, Lisa Craven and Tiffany Black, who joined us late in 2023, continue to help us review and strengthen our work.

Lisa and Tiffany will guide our operations as we recruit for an Executive Director for Family and Community Services to lead this vital aspect of our work through Samaritans.

Further Support

The Bishop, Board, our Executive Team and I anticipate that the changes we are making will provide greater support to our day-to-day operations. It is business as usual for all our teams as these developments are being implemented.

Allanna Ryan, Executive Director Finance, and Nicole Klasen, Executive Director People and Culture, continue to support our business as we make these improvements.
